SAN ANTONIO, TX; November 29, 2016 – The San Antonio Choral Society (SACS) presented it’s 3rd annual “Handel’s Messiah Community Sing-Along” at Travis Park United Methodist Church on Saturday. That night, hundreds of voices throughout San Antonio joined to sing the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah and collect donations for a worthy cause. On this year’s “Giving Tuesday,” SACS and Corazon Ministries, Inc. (CMI) shared the results of the event.

SACS Artistic Director, Dr. Jennifer Seighman (photo right) explains, “We carry on a tradition begun in Handel's time by dedicating our Messiah-Sing to benefit a local charity. We could not be more pleased than to have Corazon Ministries as this year's recipient.” SACS collected over 200 lbs of food and clothing along with $1,120 in monetary donations to support Corazon Ministries’ mission to fight against homelessness and hunger. “Thank you to all who donated and thank you Corazon Ministries for your transformative work with our homeless brothers and sisters.”

The mission of Corazon Ministries is to serve the street-dependent, poor and marginalized in downtown San Antonio with unconditional love and justice and to enhance the transformation of lives through programs that develop mind, body and spirit. “On behalf of Corazon Ministries, I would like to express our most heart-felt appreciation to the Choral Society and the San Antonio community for the flood of support. What better way to start the holiday season than to join voices in song and giving to those in need! It was a wonderful, meaningful evening.”  Lori Chidgley, CMI Executive Director (photo left) exclaims.

As the cold begins to move into the area, Corazon Ministries is in need of clean, machine-washable clothing for adults (men's jeans, men's coats, hats, gloves, and blankets). You can deliver those items or send monetary donations in the form of check or money order to: Corazon Ministries, Inc., c/o Travis Park UMC, 230 E.
